LEGO seems to have sprung a leak (so to speak), as images of the LEGO Winter 2015 sets are now being revealed fast and furiously! Yesterday we got to see all of the LEGO Movie 2015 sets, and today it looks like it’s DC’s turn! The LEGO DC Super Heroes 2015 theme sets have now appeared, and while it doesn’t contain any new hero minifigures, the LEGO Gorilla Grodd Goes Bananas 76026 set gives us a pair of new super-villains: LEGO Grodd and Captain Cold!

When the list of LEGO DC Superheroes 2015 sets leaked out earlier this month, many fans were delighted to see Gorilla Grodd’s name among the set titles. Not because Gorilla Grodd is exactly on the Joker’s level as far as DC villains go, but because many had a hunch that a LEGO Gorilla Grodd figure would likely be the very first LEGO DC BigFig in order to be properly scaled with the rest of the LEGO DC minifigures. And that hunch was correct–there’s nothing “mini” about the oversized LEGO Gorilla Grodd minifigure!

While I like the Gorilla Grodd LEGO figure and the all-new LEGO Captain Cold minifigure, I’m a little underwhelmed by the rest of this set. The three LEGO DC Superheroes included (LEGO Batman minifigure, LEGO Wonder Woman minifigure, and LEGO Flash minifigure) are all characters that we’ve already gotten before from LEGO, and the LEGO Truck Driver minifigure isn’t exactly headliner material.

The LEGO Bat-Mech suit looks pretty cool, but the Wonder Woman’s LEGO Invisible Jet is pretty disappointing. I also don’t like the idea of super-genius Gorilla Grodd going bonkers and attacking a banana truck, but that’s just me.

The set contains 347 pieces and is expected to be released in January 2015 (although I’d bet LEGO gift cards we see this set turn up at some retailers in December!). The Wonder Woman minifig is at least different than the one from the Lex Power Armor set, and I like getting flesh tone generic minifigs, helps fill out a city without using a bunch of clone heads and gloved hands! I like this set though, the Jet is disappointing but the BatMech is really really cool, and 2 great new Flash Villains minifigs.

  2. Im a big WW fan and to be honest have waited a while for the invisible jet – suppose I will take what I can get lol – and to be honest it looks alright, just alright. There was a small part of me hoping for a blue brick-light included so as to light up the plane and emphasise the invisible more, but that’s just me. Like the new WW printing and a good selection of minifigs included. The mini truck I like as I can use this happily in an ordinary street scene – the rest are all good fun. I will absolutely get this set.

  9. I really like the fact that you get the gorilla and captain cold. I also like the big batman suit it’s almost like iron man’s. Last,I like the mini invisible jet.
