2014 LEGO Star Wars Battle Packs Sets Revealed & Photos!

LEGO Star Wars is one of LEGO’s crown jewels when it comes to sales and popularity, but even among the other sets in the LEGO Star Wars theme the Battle Packs are especially well-loved. With an affordable price of under 15 bucks for four minifigures, the LEGO Star Wars Battle Packs are some of the most anticipated sets every year. And the LEGO Star Wars 2014 Battle Packs are going to be some of the in-demand sets ever, as they bring back the trend of four minifigures from a single faction per pack…

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Death Star Troopers 75034

Earlier this year, some “confidential” images of the 2014 LEGO Star Wars sets leaked out, but even then not all of the 2014 LEGO Star Wars Battle Packs were present and accounted for in the photos.

Luckily, thanks to some ebay listings that jumped the gun today, we finally have high-quality images of all three of the LEGO Star Wars 2014 Battle Packs that will be officially released in January 2014! Here’s my thoughts on each…

LEGO Star Wars Death Star Troopers 75034: This is likely to be the most popular LEGO Star Wars Winter 2014 set, based solely upon the fact that it’s an affordable army-builder and the only set from the winter 2014 LEGO Star Wars wave based on the original trilogy. It’s great to finally get some LEGO Death Star Gunner minifigures, even if it does seem sort of peculiar to have a Death Star Cannon that exists externally from any LEGO Death Star set.

It’s also very welcome to be able to buy LEGO Emperor’s Royal Guard minifigures for about 3 bucks each. I think that the new Emperor’s Royal Guard staff builds are a decent way of representing the weapons, even though they look a tad strange the way that LEGO has posed them being waved about on the box art for LEGO 75034. In addition, anyone think it’s strange that a set called “Death Star Troopers” doesn’t contain any actual LEGO Death Star Troopers minifigures (you know–the troops with the funny hats)?

LEGO Star Wars Utapau Troopers 75036 Winter 2014 SetLEGO Star Wars Utapau Troopers 75036: Two LEGO Utapau Clone Trooper minifigures, two LEGO Airborne Troopers minifigure, and a little LEGO Octuptarra Droid for about 12 bucks? Sign me up, LEGO! A little LEGO Tridroid (Octuptarra Droid) is one of the few Separatist Droids that I’ve really felt was missing in the LEGO Star Wars line, so I’m pleased to see it turn up in LEGO 75036.

I would have preferred three LEGO Utapau Clones minifigures and one LEGO Clone Airborne Trooper minifigure per pack, as the Airborne Troopers have such limited screen-time in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, but I can live with two of each. It’s also worth noting the new stud-firing blasters that come with all four minifigures in this LEGO Utapau Troopers 75036 set.

75037 LEGO Star Wars 2014 Battle on Saleucami SetLEGO Star Wars Battle of Saleucami 75037: Of the four LEGO 2014 Star Wars Battle Packs, this is easily my least favorite. The giant rounded energy blast that the BARC Speeder shoots looks silly, and I don’t know that we needed another LEGO BARC Speeder when we just got one in 2013. I do like the LEGO BARC Trooper minifigure (who I’m going to unofficially call the LEGO Commander Neyo minifigure), but I’m not sure that this set was well-conceived.

LEGO 75037 feels like LEGO just threw some Battle Droids and Super Battle Droids minifigures in a box with some random terrain and little vehicles. I have a hunch this 75037 LEGO Star Wars Battle of Saleucami set will be the worst-selling of the four Battle Packs in the LEGO Star Wars 2014 by a long shot.

2014 LEGO Star Wars 75035 Kashyyyk TroopersLEGO Kashyyyk Troopers 75035: Strange but true: I own thousands of Star Wars action figures, and I never noticed that there were three ‘y’s in “Kashyyyk” until I typed up the name of this 2014 Battle Pack just now. Crazy. Anyway, back on-topic: finally, we have a cheap LEGO Kashyyyk Troopers army-builder pack! I love both types of Kashyyyk Trooper minifigures in LEGO 75035, and I’m glad that LEGO is finally giving us a small, inexpensive LEGO Swamp Speeder as opposed to the more expensive ones that sell very poorly at retail. This should do very well in stores throughout 2014.

What do you think of the LEGO Star Wars Battle Packs 2014 sets, LEGO fans? Is this the best wave of LEGO Star Wars Battle Packs ever, or were there different LEGO Battle Packs (like Stomtroopers, perhaps) that you were hoping for?

  1. I will be getting a couple Death Star Trooper sets. The Royal Guards are one of my favorites characters to collect.

  2. Why the new blasters? Sure I get that out with the old in with the new but I liked those
DC-15 ones that don’t shoot studs!!! No offense LEGO.

  3. No bloody arm printing on the Kashyyyk troopers feels like an insult to me. The arms just dont fit with a fully printed torso, back, and leg printing. Even the helmet printing is decent, though I’d rather go with a open scout helmet mold instead.

  4. The Battle of Saleucami seems more like seems more like a regular system set rather than a battle pack. Just think, it is the only set in this post that has a spring-loaded shooter, the only one without the new blasters, and is includes minifigures from both the Republic side and the Separatist side when the others have minifigures that are all on the same side. It is also more expensive than the others.

  5. So…anyone who played like me Star Wars Battlefront II will definitely love the Utapau battle pack. The Airborne Troopers, the Snipers in the game! I could buy only that and the Kashyyyk one: for me are the best. And i like a lot the swamp speeder,

  6. I’m not a fan of the new blasters AT ALL. I hope to stock up on the regular ones now, so I can replace those ugly things. Other than that, the new molds look great! I’ve always liked the camo Clone Troopers, and that Utapau one looks sick. Airborne troopers (one of my favorite clone variations) and the TriDroid! I really wish the TriDroid would get more love in the mechandise area, as it is a cool machine.

  7. No new blasters on the saleucami battle set? Not that i care because they look like something from the alien conquest sets. i think when Lego fans whined that the DC-17 guns looked nothing like those in the movies, Lego should have listened to the THEY LOOK NOTHING LIKE THOSE IN THE MOVIES part, not change the play ability. A Lego gun is what it is and i was personally happy with the other ones.
