2014 LEGO Simpsons Set List Rumored (Fake?)

While perusing the net yesterday, I came across a rumored list of the upcoming 2014 LEGO The Simpsons sets scheduled to be released in Winter 2014 (or late 2013 if we’re especially lucky). Upon seeing the list, my heart leaped for joy at the selection of sets chosen for the new LEGO Simpsons 2014 theme. Then I traced back the list of rumored sets to their source, and my optimism about the veracity of the set list basically plummeted. I wish this Simpsons LEGO set list was real, but it’s most likely a fake…

There is a rumored list of LEGO The Simpsons Winter 2014 sets making the rounds right now, and while it’s been picked up as a rumor by reliable sites like BrickSet, I don’t particularly buy into the credibility of the list. Why? Because the list originated from an E-Mail sent to a user on Reddit who claims he “isn’t really a LEGO fan” but was sent the list by an anonymous friend in the UK who works at a toy shop, who has for some reason seen before anyone else in the world not only the set names but also the minifigure assortments for the initial wave of LEGO Simpsons 2014 winter sets. Sound fake and ridiculous to you? Me too.

I don’t like reporting attributed to second-hand anonymous sources like this, as anyone can say pretty much anything and if there’s even a nugget of truth to what they said, they can say their “friend” just got the details wrong. Want to see how easy it is to make something like this that sounds credible?

“I heard from my friend who manages my local LEGO Store that one of the LEGO Simpsons Winter 2014 sets would be a Springfield Elementary Classroom, and it would come with Bart, Lisa, Jimbo, Mrs. Krebapple and Principal Skinner for $49.99”. Sounds good, right? I’m not saying that the news circulating is definitely fake, but I want everyone to see how easy it is to make something up that sounds plausible.

Anyway, please take this rumored list with a grain of salt, as I (obviously) have strong doubts about it being true:

While I would be absolutely astonished if there wasn’t a LEGO Simpsons House set coming next year, that’s the only set from this list I would consider a sure-fire lock (though the Kwik-E-Mart is also likely).
