The highly controversial spring 2014 LEGO Minifigures Series 13 theme is allegedly LEGO The Simpsons, so it’s not a jaw-dropper that early LEGO Homer Simpson minifigures have now leaked out for sale on the internet. The Homer Simpson LEGO minifigure is definitely priced higher than I would pay for him right now, but it is nice that we’re finally able to get a good look at the kind of figures that will be included in next year’s LEGO Simpsons minifigures lineup…
I don’t think I’ve ever seen LEGO fans as adamantly against a newly-announced LEGO theme as they are with the 2014 LEGO The Simpsons theme, but LEGO has already started the machines and it doesn’t look like they’re going to reconsider now. I’m from the right generation to really appreciate the Simpsons TV series, and even I’m not sure that the Simpsons cartoon is a good match for LEGO. Even so, the LEGO Simpsons toys will arrive in winter/spring 2014, whether we LEGO fans like it or not.
This particular minifigure is a Springfield Nuclear Power Plant Homer Simpson LEGO minifigure, as you can tell by his authentic striped tie and name badge. Despite being transformed into a LEGO figure, this Homer Simpson actually look pretty on-model (though I feel like Homer might be giving me creepy bedroom eyes).
This particular Homer Simpson minifigure will most likely be part of the April/May 2014 releasing LEGO Minifigures Series 13 assortment, with a non-Power Plant Homer coming with the direct-to-consumer LEGO Simpsons House set. The detailing on this LEGO Homer minifigure is actually really nice–I’m just not sure how The Simpsons are going to fit into my personal LEGO universe (if at all).
There’s nothing printed on the back of the Homer Simpson’s torso or pants, but there really shouldn’t be any design on the back of the figure’s clothes, so that certainly can’t be held against him.
Now that you’ve had a chance to see up-close images of the LEGO Simpsons Power Plant Homer Simpson minifigure, has your opinion changed (for good or bad) about the LEGO 2014 Simpsons theme? Will you be buying the LEGO Minifigures Series 13 Simpsons-themed blind bags set, or will you be giving that LEGO CMF Series the cold shoulder?
I find the head piece odd. It’s not your typical Lego head so I do t know what to make of that
Sleeves! Printed sleeves! Also, the head is perfect. Looks perfectly like the cartoon and a typical lego head wouldnt fit the details and would look horrible.
Since Movies isn’t officially series 12, not sure Simspons is technically series 13.
Wasn’t expecting a minifigure head with a unique head piece, was expecting something more along the lines of this. Similar to the higher quality of the Lego SpongeBob head pieces, we seem to be seeing that again here, with hard plastic and no rubber. All and all, good figure, but I strictly collect Lego Star Wars unless a set is too good to pass up. So, if the Simpsons House is a good set, I’ll definitely be getting it as soon as it releases.
