Weekends are ordinarily a pretty dull time as far as LEGO news goes–but that wasn’t quite the case this weekend! At the Denmark LEGO Fan Weekend event this weekend, LEGO unveiled their first major direct-to-consumer LEGO 2014 set–the mighty LEGO Maersk Line Triple-E Container Ship 10241!
To commemorate this momentous occasion, LEGO has now unveiled their latest Maersk Line ship to commemorate the event–the 10241 LEGO Maersk Line Triple-E Container Ship.
I’m personally not into real-life LEGO boat models like this one, but the LEGO 10241 Maersk Line Triple-E Container ship certainly has its share of charms. The detachable lifeboats and the viewing window on the port side of the ship that lets you peer into the engine room and are standout features.
I also really like the detailed display stand with facts about the ship on it, and the good luck LEGO coin tucked away under the mast of the Maersk Line Triple-E Container Ship is pretty adorable.
Another selling-point for the 10241 LEGO Maersk Line Triple-E Container Ship set is that the set is filled with tons of rare LEGO brick colors such as dark red, sand blue, medium azure and sand green. LEGO 10241 is over two feet long and over 8″ tall when mounted on its stand, so the largest boat in the world is also destined to be one of the largest 2014 LEGO sets!
If you want to see some real-life video of LEGO 10241 and see a LEGO Designer talk about next year’s huge release, you can check out the official video below that was posted by LEGO this weekend to introduce the ship:
The LEGO Maersk Line Triple-E Container Ship 10241 is scheduled to be released in January 2014, and will be available exclusively through the online LEGO Shop and official LEGO Stores. The set will contain 1,518 pieces and will cost $149.99.
What do you think of this weekend’s huge LEGO 2014 reveal, LEGO fans? Is the Maersk Line Triple-E Container Ship LEGO 10241 set right up your alley?
The last time I built something with LEGO was over 35 years ago! But I have just pre-ordered the Maersk Triple-E for my office. Being a Master Mariner and marine consultant I wanted something that was unique and whilst not an exact replica it is a good rendition. I think it will be a great talking piece when I have clients and can’t wait to get it.
