I’ve heard quite a bit of hate on the Internet for the addition of the Pandaren race in the World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria expansion, but I am unashamed to say that I love me some kung-fu pandas. So when I had the opportunity to see the 2013 World of Warcraft Mega Bloks Mists of Pandaria sets first-hand on the day they were announced back at New York Comic-Con 2012, I knew the sets were an instant buy for me. I didn’t think we’d be seeing any of the Pandaria Mega Bloks until 2013, but Santa seems to have visited Toys R Us a little bit early this year…
Toys R Us is pretty much the home of choice so far the Warcraft Mists of Pandaria Mega Bloks sets. The Sha of Anger Mega Bloks set debuted on their website a couple weeks ago, and they even had a free giveaway of the much sought-after Jade Chen Stormstout Pandaren figure in November. On the brick-and-mortar front, I heard that there were sightings for the Pandaria Factions figure pack and Mount sets, so I began unceremoniously stalking my local Toys R Us.
Patience paid off, because today I finally had the opportunity to bring home my first pair of Pandaren warriors with Pandaren Hunter Rojo 91050 and Dragon Turtle with Pandaren Monk Windpaw 91024.
As with all construction sets at Toys R Us, the inflated price-tags on these sets was a little bit of a deterrent. The retail price for Rojo was $7.49 and the Dragon Turtle was $14.49, each a couple dollars more than what I’m used to (or happy about) paying. But I knew all along I’d be paying a little more than retail to get these pandas early from Toys R Us, and the near-perpetual “Buy 1, Get 1 40% Off Mega Bloks” sale definitely sealed the deal for me.
So if you’re looking to begin building your Pandaren Mega Bloks army, your local Toys R Us is likely the place to be!
I’ll have full reviews up later this week of both the World of Warcraft Mega Bloks Dragon Turtle 91024 and Rojo 91050 later this week.
