Ever since LEGO began teasing their all-new, totally-original Legends of Chima theme for 2013, fans have been waiting with bated breath (some more than others) for the line to finally go up for sale. And the day has finally arrived! Both in stores and online at the official LEGO Store, the 2013 LEGO Legends of Chima sets are now up for sale!The sixteen sets comprising the first wave of LEGO Legends of Chima sets are as follows:

You’ll notice that only five of the six animal tribes from the Legend of Chima theme are represented in this wave: no Gorilla Tribe minifigures or sets will be released until the summer 2013 wave of Legends of Chima sets expected to be released in June 2013.

To kick off the theme (and the new year), LEGO is offering a Legends of Chima polybag set absolute free this month with every purchase of $75 or more from LEGO Stores or the online LEGO Store. Ewar’s Acro-Fighter will be available exclusively through this offer, and with all of the cool shared exclusives and new releases this month, it shouldn’t be too difficult to spend $75 or more (several times over in my case).

If you’re wondering whether or not it’s worth the trouble to buy other sets just to get the polybag (although, let’s face it–there’s so many cool sets out this January that I doubt that’s an issue for anyone), I’ll be reviewing Ewar’s Acro-Fighter later this week–look forward to it!
